Distribution of Improved Cook Stoves in Central India
Improved cookstoves (ICS) manufactured by OYU Green are being distributed to families living in poverty in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in India. These stoves are designed to be more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional stoves, using multi-layer technology and insulation to improve the efficiency of combustion and thermal transfer to the pot. This results in a cleaner and more efficient use of biomass fuel, with an average lifespan of 7 years and an efficiency of 35.40%.

The distribution of these stoves has a domino effect on the communities, providing employment opportunities through distribution and maintenance, and reducing the time spent collecting firewood. These stoves also improve the overall health of families by reducing Household Air Pollution (HAP) caused by the usage of older, traditional stoves. Without the intervention of ICS, these families would continue to use traditional cooking methods that have a negative impact on their health and well-being. In addition, the distribution of these stoves decreases the chances of assaults that women face while collecting firewood.
